the site When the site of Hattie's Camp was selected as an aerodrome for land-based air craft, anybody getting off the train would have seen only a line of trees. A trail south towards Gander Lake would have revealed only more spruce and some fir and fairly boggy terrain on a plateau. No wonder the Saturday Evening Post called it a "Whistle Stop". The following photos should give an idea of the work that had to be done. |
